If you want the construction version, here’s the short process: mix the two parts in a 1:1 ratio, pour the mixture into a cavity or mold, and let it expand and cure. In a stair system, you might use it to fill a gap around a steel stringer to reduce noise. One warning: don’t use high-expansion foam under a floating stair tread.
