We believe durability and sustainability are the same thing. A product that lasts 50 years is inherently greener than one that needs replacing in 10. That principle shapes every engineering decision we make.
T316 stainless steel is inherently recyclable — it can be reclaimed and re-melted without loss of material properties. Over 73% of the stainless we source contains post-consumer and post-industrial recycled content. We work with suppliers who operate electric arc furnaces powered by low-carbon grids, reducing smelting emissions by 48% compared to primary production methods.
In 2021, Viewrail completed a 2.4 MW rooftop solar installation that now covers 100% of our facility's daytime electricity needs. A Power Purchase Agreement with our regional grid operator ensures the remaining overnight consumption is matched by certified renewable energy credits (RECs) from Midwestern wind farms.
Our machining and fabrication operations generate steel swarf, cutting fluids, and end-cut offcuts. Since 2019, we've partnered with three regional scrap dealers to divert 98.4% of steel waste from landfill. Packaging was redesigned in 2022 to eliminate single-use plastic bags — all hardware kits now ship in recycled-content kraft paper with soy-based inks.
Environmental Management System certification — annual third-party audit by SGS Group.
Our recycled steel content qualifies for LEED MR Credit 4 points in commercial projects.
All powder-coat finishes are free from restricted hazardous substances per EU RoHS Directive.
Full SVHC substance screening maintained for all imported hardware components.
Our sustainability team can provide EPDs, material content declarations, and recycled content documentation to support your green building certification application.
